Copying columns messes up formatting/data validations

I have a master Excel template (A) with around 45 columns with different formatting/data validations. A second Excel workbook (B) needs to be created dynamically by copying only certain columns from A to B.

If I select to copy columns 1 and 3 from A to B then in the Excel workbook B, the formatting for column 1 is correct. However, since column 3 from workbook A is copied over to column 2 in workbook B, I expect the formatting of column 3 from workbook A to be copied over to column 2 in workbook B. But this is not happenning. Column 2 workbook B has formatting from column 2 workbook A.

Can you please take a look? It will be a big help!
